1. Adding internal links
When writing a post, you’ll often want to link to other, internal pages on your blog. Not only does this allow your reader to easily access related content, but internal linking increases your ranking power. Rather than have to open up a new window and search your blog’s archives for an appropriate post to link to, WordPress makes it simple. Just highlight your anchor text, click on the link icon in the upper menu, and, instead of pasting in a URL, search for and select one of your other blog posts.
2. Saves time
An Orbit Media survey shows that most bloggers spend about three hours researching, writing, and editing their posts each day. Unless you’re like Seth Godin, who spends 16 hours a day preparing and just 15 minutes typing, you’ll love any tool that speeds up the actual writing process. WordPress has more than 20 time-saving shortcut keys.
3. Simplicity
We could probably end this list right here! How can you not love something that is so simple to use? It only takes a few minutes to install WordPress. Just answer a couple of questions, choose your domain name and pick a web hosting plan for WordPress, and you’ll be well on your way to creating an attractive site to promote your business.
4. Useful plugins
A plugin is a piece of software that you add to your WordPress site to give you extra features and functionality. One of the best and most popular plugins is Yoast SEO, which makes optimizing each blog post extremely easy. Check out this list of best WordPress plugins.
5. Quick edit option
When you’re in the “All Posts” section on your WordPress dashboard, you can make changes to your posts without having to actually open them up, and you can also make bulk changes to more than one post. Below the title of each post you’ll see “Quick Edit.” Click on this and make changes to the post’s title, slug/permalink, publish date, author, tags, and category.
6. Distraction-free workspace
Hide distracting headings, menus, lists, and links with one of those nifty shortcuts we mentioned above — ALT + Shift + W — so you can focus on writing. To return to a normal view, just press the ESCAPE key.
7. No commitment
With literally hundreds — maybe thousands — of paid and free themes available today, WordPress makes it easy to change your theme as your business grows and your vision evolves. When you drop your parent theme’s menus and widgets into a child theme, rest easy because you can easily revert back to the original if you change your mind.
8. UX preferences
If customers want to comment on your blog or purchase from your e-commerce site, they’ll have to sign in. We all know that user experience plays a huge part in the success of any website, and the ease or difficulty of signing up and logging in can make or break it. WordPress allows you to customize and improve every user’s experience based on their login information.
9. Accessibility pptions
Most of us love the built-in, drag-and-drop features, but if you have trouble using a mouse or trackball to add or tweak widgets on the sidebar, you’ll probably be more comfortable using WordPress’ accessibility mode to control widgets. Check out this 56-second video called How to Add WordPress Widgets in Accessibility Mode.
10. Adding media
It’s ridiculously simple to copy and paste a URL, upload images, and embed videos, audio clips, and other media files to your post. Enough said.
